Dr. Gil Grissom

Grissom has a Ph.D. in Biology from the University of California in Los Angeles with a background in Entomology. He's one of a few forensic entomologists in the country.

He's in charge of the night shift at the Las Vegas Crime Lab. He took over the Supervisor position when Brass was sent back to Homicide. Catherine Willows often subs for him when he's away, while Nick, Warrick and Sara report directly to him.

Grissom loves his job -- but he hates politics. He hasn't quite learned how to play the game and has stepped on more than a few toes in his tenure.

He uses the latest scientific methods to find the evidence that will help solve cases, but he is not a people person. The exceptions to this are how he enjoys "teaching" Warrick, Sara and Nick and his interaction with Lindsey (Catherine's daughter).

He is very protective of his people and will go out on a limb to help them.

Grissom is single. He has a congenital ear disorder that will eventually leave him deaf, just like his mother. His mother taught him ASL (American Sign Language) when he was a child and he's retained this knowledge and even used it in a case.
