Disclaimer: If I owned, do you really think I would be putting this up on a live journal? LOL!
Warrick listened carefully as his older brother pointed out some of the tools of his trade. He couldn't bear to cut into Stephen's excitement over showing him things that were pretty similar to the stuff he worked with back in Vegas. Besides, if it made Stephen happy to have Rick hang on his every word like a hero-worshipping kid brother, who was he to deny him.
"So, what do you think? Make you want to ditch the locals and come over to the real fun?" Stephen asked with a sparkle in his eyes. "I could find a spot for you."
Warrick laughed and shook his head. "As good as that sounds, I'm gonna have to pass. Griss would never leave Vegas and ..." he shrugged, "my place is with Griss."
Stephen nodded, "I understand."
About this time, Miles, Eva and Natalie entered the lab area, laughing at something Miles said. Natalie stopped abruptly and the younger two followed suit, staring at the other occupants in the room. Before she could control herself, Eva exclaimed, "Oh wow. If there is any justice in the world, please tell me that is the brother we've heard so much about!"
Natalie nudged her young associate and moved forward, extending her hand to Warrick. "Hi, I'm Natalie Durrant. Please excuse Eva. She's usually quite discreet under normal circumstances."
Warrick returned the handshake and laughed, bringing both Natalie and Eva under his spell. "It's not a problem. I work with a lady named Catherine, so I'm used to pretty much anything." He quickly shook the others' hands. "Warrick Brown, Las Vegas CSI and the better looking brother in the Connor family tree."
Eva decided this as good a time as any to make her move. "I'm Eva Rossi and I hope you won't hold my little outburst against me. It's just we'd heard so much about you since Stephen and Frank got back that I figured I already knew you ... or at least I wanted to."
Warrick laughed and winked at the feisty younger woman. "Like I said, it's not a problem."
Miles gently maneuovred Eva out of the way. "I'm Miles. Miles McCabe. When Stephen mentioned you and your field, I was fascinated. I've always been interested in the forensics side of things."
"Really? Well, I have to admit our jobs are similar enough that I'm fascinated by what you do as well. Stevie was telling me about..."
For a while, Stephen just listened to the younger guys talk about their cases, smiling like the benevolent older sibling he was. Natalie couldn't help but smile as she watched this rare bit of emotionalism take over her boss. She moved closer to him, placing her hand on his arm. "You look extremely pleased."
"That's probably because I am." He looked away from "the boys" and focused on his friend. "You don't know how long I've wanted to be a part of his life. I hate how it came about, but I can't fault the outcome."
"I think you guys are really lucky to have found your way back to each other." Natalie bit her lip as an air of mischief settled over her. "But, Stevie?"
Stephen felt the blush creep up his neck as he had to acknowledge that it would be Nat who would catch that. He rolled his eyes and took a deep breath. "I call him Ricky, so, in a typical bratty kid brother move, he calls me Stevie." He chuckled at a recent memory."The first time Frank heard him, he fell off the bed laughing. I almost had to suffocate him with a pillow to make him stop."
Natalie joined in the laughter as she glanced around the lab. "Speaking of, where's your better half?"
"Showing the brother-in-law the rest of the facilities - mainly Robeson's bug sanctuary in the underground." Stephen took a quick peek at his watch. "They should be ba..." A noise at the entrance of the room caught his attention and his smile grew. "And there they are."
Frank and Gil entered the room in deep discussion and they didn't stop until they reached the small group. Both men looked up and instantly sought the gaze of their loved ones. Four identical besotted smiles left the other occupants in the room in no doubt of where things stood between the men.
"Damn. It figures," Eva commented as she watched the interaction. "The gorgeous gay guy you work with *does* have a brother... and *he* has a boyfriend!"
